- The first thing you need is the Google Chrome web browser, without it we won't be able to remote connect to your machine. If you already use and/or have Google Chrome installed please proceed to step 2.
If you are not sure if you do or don't have Google Chrome installed on your computer try this:
Windows 10: Click your start button (bottom left) and type Chrome
Mac: Click your launchpad and type Chrome
If Google Chrome is installed you will see this icon - Visit Chrome Remote Desktop
If you are asked to login please do with your Google username and password.
If you DO NOT have a Google account already you can create one here. - Once you are signed in you will see a screen like the image below, click Remote Support and then click the download icon to install the remote desktop extension to Google Chrome
- You will then be asked to Add the extension to Chrome, click Add to Chrome (as shown in the image below):
- Chrome will then ask you to confirm you want to add the extension, click Add extension (as shown in the image below):
- You now be asked to give your computer a name. This can be anything you like BUT make it memorable, we would use something like "Media City Way Computer". Once you have entered a name for your computer click next
- You will now be asked for a memorable PIN, once you have entered your pin and confirmed the same pin number click Start
- If you get any warnings asking "if you would like to allow this app to make changes to your computer" click YES.
- Chrome Remote Desktop will now show you the computer/device that you have just added
- Click Remote Support, this is located at the top middle of the screen
- You will now see a box saying Get Support, click on the button that says Generate Code
- Give this code (usually 12 digits long) to Media City Way and we'll connect to your machine.
